The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the revision of the geographical area of the Bourgogne AOC following the mobilization of the Burgundy winegrowers' unions. The Comité national des Appellations d'origine viticoles de l'INAO would like to point out that what is being debated is a proposal from the experts, and that this proposal constitutes a decision-making tool available to the Comité national, which has sole competence to set the perimeter of an appellation.
In this context, the Comité national would never have ratified the withdrawal of such emblematic sectors as Chablisien, Châtillonnais and Dijonnais, and it will not do so. "I will not be the President who takes Chablis out of Burgundy", asserted Christian Paly.
This issue has been withdrawn from the agenda of the Comité National, which met on Thursday in order to renew dialogue with the Syndicat des vins de Bourgogne with a view to finding solutions to the issue of revising the geographical area of the Bourgogne AOC, a revision requested from the INAO by the organisme de défense et de gestion (ODG) in 2008 and 2015.
