INAO pays tribute to Henri Nallet, former Minister of Agriculture and promoter of appellations of origin
Henri Nallet passed away on May 29, 2024 at the age of 85. INAO pays tribute to his work, which made a major contribution to consolidating the official policy of official signs of identification of quality and origin, still in force today.

Henri Nallet was Minister of Agriculture between 1985 and 1986, and again between 1988 and 1990.
In this capacity, he worked for the development of appellations at both national and European level. He championed the law of July 2, 1990, which established the INAO and AOCs. Given the economic success of AOCs in the wine sector, this law extended INAO's remit to include dairy products and other raw or processed agri-food products, facilitating the development of SIQOs in these sectors. Within this framework, the Institut national des appellations d'origine des vins et eaux-de-vie then became the Institut national des appellations d'origine, before becoming the Institut national de l'origine et de la qualité on January 1, 2007.
The INAO and its teams send their condolences to his family and loved ones.
