At the Salon international de l'agriculture, Marc Fesneau, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, set INAO its objectives for the next 5 years, by signing its Contract of Objectives and Performance (COP). Since then, the Institute has begun work to meet its 3 main objectives: consolidating the fundamentals, adapting to contemporary challenges and modernizing the institute.

The COP is a strategic tool that sets out the INAO's major orientations for carrying out its missions of steering, controlling and protecting official signs of quality and origin identification (SIQO). Today, SIQOs face major challenges: market complexity, climate change, changing societal expectations, competition from other private segmentation approaches, etc. Work is underway to meet these 3 objectives:

Consolidating the fundamentals, by guaranteeing via demanding specifications the characteristics of these products, contributing to the development of organic farming as part of the implementation of the organic regulation, securing controls and continuing to protect denominations and terroirs.

Adapting to guarantee the sustainability of the industry, by organizing itself to offer greater agility and revising procedures and working methods. As part of this, the Institute will be extending the Innovation Evaluation System (DEI) to PDO committees. It is continuing to develop links with research. INAO will also be supporting the position of SIQOs by preparing a major communications campaign aimed at the general public.

Continuing the modernization of the public establishment, to formalize a new service and support offering for ODGs.
