A technical cooperation agreement on geographical indications with China [ODG].
On May 7, 2024, Carole Ly, Director of the Institut national de l'origine et de la qualité, signed the renewal of a technical cooperation agreement on geographical indications with Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China national intellectual property administration (1) (CNIPA).
This three-way partnership with the Ministère de l'agriculture et de la souveraineté alimentaire, for a period of four years, aims to pursue exchanges of legal and technical expertise around agri-food and wine geographical indications, and to improve mutual knowledge of the two countries' systems. It should also enable progress to be made on the steps taken by France to register Burgundy's geographical wine indications in China, following the registration of the Gevrey-Chambertin and Mâcon appellations announced by Chinese President Xi Jinping on the same day.
